Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I hit iron shots?
Drop Tee is designed for tee’d shots only and is not intended to be used as a hitting strip. While the unit itself is extremely durable and would not be damaged by turf shots, it would not be a comfortable or ideal surface to hit irons from.
Iron shots should be hit to the left or right of the unit on your preferred hitting strip or mat, just as you would in a standard simulator or driving range setup.
How durable is the tee?
The tee is made up of 17 individual nylon rods, similar to the durable material used in weed-wacker line. It’s designed to withstand repeated impact from clubs and normal use without issue.
In practice, it’s unlikely that a club strike would damage the tee. The most common risk would be accidentally stepping on the tee while it’s in the raised position, which could cause it to kink. If that happens, the tee will often return to its original shape after spending some time in the lowered position. If needed, it can also be quickly replaced in under five minutes using a replacement tee cartridge.
Is the turf replaceable?
Yes. Drop Tee was designed from the ground up with high-traffic, high-volume facilities in mind. Turf naturally experiences wear over time, which is why we engineered the unit so the turf can be easily replaced when needed, helping extend the life of the system and keep installations looking and performing their best.
Will this really fit in any hitting mat?
Yes. Drop Tee is only 1.6 inches tall, which allows it to integrate with virtually any hitting mat on the market — from low-profile residential mats to thicker commercial and driving-range setups.
Most hitting mats fall within a 1"–2.5"+ thickness range, and Drop Tee is designed to accommodate that variation. If your mat is slightly lower than the unit, the height difference can be easily built up from underneath using a thin padding or substrate. If your mat is thicker, the unit can be raised the same way so the top surface remains flush and consistent across the entire hitting area.
How do I replace the tee if it breaks?
Every Drop Tee unit comes with a spare tee cartridge, and additional replacements can be purchased at any time.
Replacing the tee is quick and straightforward:
- Remove the center bottom plate, which is secured with six Phillips-head screws.
- Remove the existing tee cartridge.
- Insert the replacement cartridge — the built-in magnets help align and secure it in the correct position.
- The replacement cartridge includes a temporary alignment stick, which holds the tee in its proper position while it’s being set into the carriage. Once the cartridge is seated, simply remove the stick.
- Reinstall the center bottom plate and secure the screws.
That’s it — the entire process takes just a few minutes and requires only a standard Phillips screwdriver.
Will it work with my launch monitor?
Drop Tee is designed to work with both indoor and outdoor launch monitors. The unit has a total width of 5.5", which should be considered when positioning it within the launch monitor’s readable hitting zone.
For launch monitors with a tighter hitting area, placement may need to be adjusted to ensure sufficient space for iron shots struck on either side of the unit.
At this time, the only known compatibility issue is with the Apogee launch monitor. Apogee’s software can be affected by the visible black opening of the Drop Tee unit when hitting shots not struck from the tee, which may impact shot or club data. We are in contact with their team, and they have indicated this is something they plan to address on the software side.
How is it powered?
Drop Tee is powered by a low-voltage 12V power supply and does not contain an internal battery. Each unit includes a 20-foot extension cable, providing approximately 25 feet of total reach to the nearest outlet.
Because the unit has very low power consumption, it can also be powered by compatible external battery packs, allowing for multiple sessions without needing a wall outlet.
When will Drop Tee be available for purchase again?
Our current demo units are in the final stages of durability, reliability, and waterproofing validation. At the same time, we’re actively scaling manufacturing to meet the strong demand we’ve received—without compromising the quality standards our customers expect.
